It is a set of minimum standards that buildings or companies must abide by to maintain health and safety standards. Sometimes older buildings can be in violation of current plumbing codes, making them non-compliant. Incorrectly installed plumbing or plumbing installed before certain regulations were put in place must be repaired or replaced to become compliant.
