Why You Need to Weatherproof Your Outdoor Fixtures

Weatherproofing your outdoor fixtures can save you a lot of pain by avoiding a burst pipe or flooded basement. What happens if you don’t weatherproof, or winterproof, your outdoor faucets is that as water freezes, it expands and that expansion can lead to a burst or cracked pipe or spigot. One thing to note is that even if your basement is heated, that interior heat will not be enough to keep your pipes, especially those leading from the outside, warm enough to keep from freezing. So, what we do to winterize your outdoor faucets is first do a thorough inspection of your outdoor spigots and determine where they lead. We will drain your pipes and spigots, potentially insulate your pipes, and lastly put a protective, insulated cover over your outdoor faucets to keep them from freezing.
