What is Water Testing?
Water testing is the starting point for any water quality decision. Before you can solve a water problem, you need to know what is actually in your water.
AJ Alberts offers two free water testing options:
- In home water testing. A working plumber comes to your home with a portable test kit. We measure hardness, iron, chlorine, pH, and total dissolved solids in real time. You get clear results in minutes and recommendations based on what we find.
- Showroom water testing. Bring a water sample to our Woodbury showroom at 7975 Afton Road. We test it on the spot and walk you through the results. This is a great option if you are already doing other shopping in Woodbury or simply prefer to come in.
For specific contaminant concerns like PFAS, lead, nitrates, or bacteria, we coordinate certified laboratory testing. We can guide you through the Minnesota Department of Health certified labs or the St. Croix County (WI) Community Development Department private well testing program.
The water test is free. There is no obligation to purchase anything. Many homeowners use the test simply to understand their water, then decide on next steps in their own time.

On the spot testing
Hardness, iron, chlorine, pH, and TDS are measured in real time. Results are immediate.
Lab coordination if needed
For PFAS, lead, or other specialty testing, we walk you through the lab testing process and timeline. Results typically take 5 to 10 business days.
Recommendations
Based on what we find, we recommend the right combination of softener, filtration, RO, or specialty treatment. No pressure, no commission driven pitch. Many homeowners choose to wait or address issues over time.
