Our Story

A.J. Alberts opened in 1989 with a simple promise: do the work right, charge what is fair, and never sell something the customer does not need.

Steve Grohn took over in 1996 and has spent the last quarter century growing the business while keeping that original promise intact. Steve has lived in Woodbury since he took over and treats every job like it is in his own neighborhood, because most of the time it is.

Steve has owned A.J. Alberts Plumbing since 1996 and has lived in Woodbury for nearly that long. He raised his kids through Woodbury Public Schools and New Life Academy, and you will still hear him call M Health Fairview Sports Center by its original name, Bielenberg Sports Center. Steve set the no-commissioned-salespeople policy that defines how the company sells, and he keeps it that way personally.
