Circle Pines is a small Anoka County community of approximately 5,000 residents bordering Lexington, Lino Lakes, Blaine, and Shoreview. Most housing dates from the 1960s through 1980s, putting much of the existing plumbing infrastructure squarely in the typical replacement window for water heaters, softeners, fixtures, and supply lines.
Extremely Hard — advanced softener required
Outside the documented East Metro 3M PFAS plume. Circle Pines draws from two wells, 270 to 321 feet deep, into the Quaternary Buried Artesian and Jordan-St. Lawrence aquifers in Anoka County, distinct from the surficial wells in the Washington County contamination zone. The 2023 Consumer Confidence Report shows no PFAS detections and no violations of any EPA standard.

Many Circle Pines wells show elevated iron, causing orange staining on fixtures, laundry, and tubs. We diagnose ferrous vs. ferric iron on-site and install the right specialty filter.
Beyond hardness, Circle Pines tap water can carry trace dissolved metals, sediment, and chlorination byproducts. Under-sink reverse osmosis delivers cleaner drinking and cooking water than most bottled.
Many Circle Pines homes are 30+ years old. Original water heaters, softeners, supply lines, and shut-off valves are often due for replacement. Proactive maintenance prevents emergencies.

Local Expert
Shoreview / Circle Pines Resident, Master Plumber
Kevin is a Master Plumber and lives in the Shoreview and Circle Pines area. Most of his work happens close to home: Circle Pines, Shoreview, North Oaks, White Bear Lake, Little Canada, Roseville, Columbia Heights, Saint Anthony, Mahtomedi, Fridley, Spring Lake Park, North Saint Paul, Maplewood, Lino Lakes, Centerville, Blaine, and Coon Rapids.
A recent call in the area shows how Kevin works. The ticket was for a leaking Rheem 75-gallon power vent water heater. On arrival, Kevin measured incoming water pressure at over 90 PSI (well above the 60-to-80 PSI safe range) and found no water softener on extremely hard municipal water. The combination was destroying the home's faucets, toilets, and water heater faster than any of those issues in isolation. Kevin installed a PRV (pressure reducing valve) to bring pressure down to 70 PSI, installed a properly sized water softener to remove the minerals attacking every fixture, replaced the failed faucets and toilets, and added a thermal expansion tank on the water heater's cold-water supply line. The thermal expansion tank uses an internal air bladder to safely absorb expanding water volume as it heats, preventing dangerous pressure spikes in the now-closed plumbing system. The combined PRV plus softener plus thermal expansion tank will protect that home's plumbing investment for decades.
Outside work, Kevin is outdoors with his family, usually at his kids' sporting events. Circle Pines, Shoreview, and surrounding north-metro customers can request him by name when scheduling.
"What I love most about this job is meeting people, making friends, and solving the puzzle. When high water pressure, no softener, and a failing water heater turn out to be one problem in disguise, that is when this work is most fun."
